That's all well and fine but a shit ton of that movie is pretty much bullshit distortion of facts.

His point on religion is well taken, but that's about it for me.

After watching Part 2, I don't see how anyone could explain the towers falling (especially WTC7) as being anything other than controlled demolition. As for the 'plane' hitting the Pentagon and disintegrating.... like to see someone explain how that happened, and why the FBI seized all those videos. Oh, and the other plane, which doesn't even look like a plane crash.

The most important thing for me, is that the US Government used excuses that defy physics and nature. Oh ok.

Absolutely agree with you. A real education isn't gained in 3 hours, it's done in years. This type of speculation is good for getting people interested in topics and researching on their own in whatever subjects interest them. I am going to admit that I was turned off immediately by the presentation (of both movies) with the intense music and the painfully slow development of basic premises followed with massive leaps of imagination.

Very few people will believe 100% of this, and only because it caters to their fantasies of a conspiracy causing the failures of their own lives. I find it appropriate that the director starts with the breaking down of organized religion before he introduces the concept of a minority controlling all of the major events in the world (I think he forgot the weather machine). Why replace one complete farce with another if you just want to tie the known world together with a single knowledge base? He's trying to create a conspiracy on the level of a "god" to replace a massive void in knowledge that no humans can prove. Seems like preying on dumb atheists for the same vulnerabilities that dumb religious fundamentalists have.

I remember the first Zeitgeist proposed an issue about the creation of permanent debt from the Federal Reserve based on collecting interest on printed money. Some other guys work and sources:
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill...flaherty7.html

As for this one, I'm going to start with the only fact I can tell off the top of my head on religion: there never was a claim by anyone that Jesus was born on the 25th of December in winter (the date is taught as unknown). I remember being taught that the day was chosen to appeal to converted pagans (who celebrated a festival around that day). So while I don't believe in the literal character of Jesus, I recognize that this guy has already done a very poor job of studying religions. This is something a once a year churchgoer would have by going on christmas to socialize and listen to music.

As for everything in the movie, I won't debate him because he didn't leave enough sources. I have questions about why he wants people to believe this. Is there any information on the guy who made this?

Edit: Not sure if I remember correctly, but was this the movie where the guy says something about not having to pay taxes on something... That would surely get people arrested.

Down with the system, down with religion. Lets all smoke pot and gain existentialist form of "enlightenment" through a haze of bong smoke. Then we'll all convert to Buddhism, renounce all that we covet materialistically, and spend the rest of our lives wasting away and accomplishing nothing.

Everyone quit your jobs (emancipate yourself from slavery), burn your car (emancipate yourself from the slavery of oil dependency) , burn your houses and live in a grass hut (emancipate yourself from slavery the slavery of interest rates via mortgages) after this post.

Yeah, I didn't think so either. I know the world is far from perfect, but greed is irrefutably the driving force that allows sh*t to get done.

Did we miss the sarcasm?

All the technology suggested in the film to solve the world's problems and drive us all into utopia.... they are being researched and developed by scientists, yes? Where is their reward after hmm? Where is their incentive? (Watch 128:40 -> ~130:ish)

The moon and the stars, a painting? I INVENTED THE NEW WORLD AND THAT'S ALL YOU GOT? GTFO here. Gimme 40 virgins and an eightball, stat.

Anyhow, watched religion segment. Already knew something about what they presented it so it was not entirely unsurprising. (however, they should hfocused more on other sources of myth. But i guess that direct comparison to "true & vile" Egyptian pagan stuff was supposed to shock more.)

Anyone who wants more food for thought should watch this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_From_Earth - author did some research, so should you.

Its all very interesting but I can't help but feel that the brightly coloured smiley utopian future portrayed by the venus project is rather unrealistic.

Having said that, the message is good, I liked the parts about sustainable energy and the explanation of the monatery system was enlightening.

I'll send it to a few of my friends, im sure theyd be interested.

It's not completely irrelevant.

The movie is decidedly a giant wanking off of Satre, who can RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO himself in his grave for all I care.

First off, I have been a Christian my whole life. I don't claim to be smart or anything, but there's a lot of gaping holes in the religion part of that movie alone. I'm only in high school, but I feel like I'm watching a video made by 8th graders. A few facts they should check:

A) Nowhere in the Bible does it say 3 Magi. They're just referred to as plural "Magi". No specific number. The 3 is just general tradition formed about 400 AD.

B) Nowhere in Christian doctrine does it say that Jesus was born December 25th, that was chosen at some Christian council, also in the few hundreds AD. They just needed a uniform date for Christmas.

C) Saying Jesus never existed is just plain false. Even secular history agrees that he lived and taught. Whether or not he rose and was actually God is a matter of faith, though.

D) Quite a few Christians believe that Jesus came back to earth and taught in other cultures, like the Native Americans, Egyptians, etc..., which is how the religion of Christianity could have very well been melded with other religions of the day. I would say other religions having a similar story to Christianity is only proof that it is indeed plausible.

E) The "Christian fish" is definitely not a sign of Pisces. Christians used to draw that symbol in the sand as they greeted each other, the other would repeat the symbol so they knew each other were Christians and it was safe to communicate, since Christians were widely persecuted. That is a historical fact.

F) The "Gilgamesh Flood" that was recorded at 2600 BC definitely coincides with the Biblical Flood. It could definitely be an account. I don't see how that's a stretch.

G) Regarding Joseph, that was not a "miracle birth" at all, he was the 12th son out of 13, so, the "miracle birth" they refer to is his mother's age, who had a child after him, making "Joseph's miracle birth" another untruth. And his "sale suggested by Judah" didn't happen. If they had actually read the account, Judah was the only brother (besides Benjamin, the 13th child, but he was very young at the time and didn't know what was going on) who did NOT want to sell Joseph. The other 11 were the ones who sold him, Judah had no part in helping.

Unrelated note: Many Christian professors and theologians call people like Joseph, Moses, Melchizidek, *insert other widely known Biblical figure* "types of Christ", it is a part of theology called "typology". There are many Biblical figures that share some part of Jesus story in their lives, which is believed to have been God's plan, by Christians, at any rate.

H) Those historians that "are the only historians who ever documented Christ" were actually not the only ones. How about Matthew, John Mark, Luke, John, Phillip, Peter, Judas, Thomas, and Bartholomew? Also, many non-disciples, such as Nicodemus, Cerinthus, and Marcion to name a few?

tl;dr: He uses a Thesaurus to great effect to try to disguise many half-truths or untruths.

P.S. Please stop saying all Christians are hateful war-mongers because of what corrupt Popes did a thousand years ago.

the Venus project portrays a Technocracy. Human civilization has yet to evolve to a level where we would drop all notions of power, desire, and greed. In a technocracy, the leading scientists and inventors "rule" society. If you have ever watched Star Trek, the United Federation of Planets is a technocracy, free of poverty, hunger, finance, and direct rule. The aspiration to develop technology and better the race as a whole, as well as explore the rest of the universe, is the goal. Technocracy is essentially a utopia. We will probably never achieve it.

I'm calling bullshit on this. Anyone with enough resources can turn around direct quotes to fit his needs. One can also make things up. We see it in drama shows and movies all the time. It's just plain bullshit.
